At the London Day Cosmetic Surgery Centre we can offer consultations for  a wide range of wide range of improving treatments which can have a profound affect by changing the way a person looks and perceives themselves. Discreet facial aesthetic surgery, body contouring, liposculpture, Breast Cosmetic Surgery, facial aesthetic surgery and anti-ageing procedures can be conducted, as can reconstructive procedures made necessary by cancer, congenital deformities, trauma and injury.

Blepharoplasty/Eyelid Reduction

Ageing of the upper and lower eyelids is normally due to a combination of loose skin and protrusion of fat. This is a common problem and although most patients seeking such surgery are 40 or older, puffy eyes may be a familial trait and patients will seek help at a much younger age. In the upper eyelids ageing causes stretching of the eyelid skin producing a “hooded” appearance. These changes can give the appearance of tiredness and many patients request Cosmetic Surgery for this reason.

Abdominoplasty/Tummy Tuck

The skin and muscles of the anterior abdominal wall are stretched during pregnancy or excessive weight gain. In some people this leaves loose skin and fat which can cause difficulty with clothing and performing sporting activities. Exercise and diet can help to reverse these changes but in some people surgery may be needed to tighten the muscles and remove the excess skin.

The operation is performed through a horizontal incision which is placed very low within the bikini area.

Some ladies may already have the scar of a caesarean section in this area which can be improved and incorporated in the abdominoplasty scar. By strengthening the central muscles of the abdomen it is possible to improve the waist line. This procedure is not a cure for stretch marks although most of the stretch marks below the umbilicus will be removed with the excess skin. This procedure is often done in conjunction with liposuction to remove some excess fat. It should be stressed that this is not an operation which aims to remove fat, but rather one for loose skin. The precise detail of the proposed surgery does vary between individuals and will be carefully discussed with you at your consultation.

The Tooth and its Surrounding Tissues

Teeth are not solid objects; they have a space at their centre containing blood vessels and nerves called the dental pulp. This pulp tissue nourishes the tooth.

What are Dental Implants?

Dental Implants are small, tissue-compatible titanium fixtures, which are inserted into the jawbone. After a period of natural bonding, the implants serve as the ‘root’ anchor for new superstructure crowns bridges or dentures.

Aetiology

The major cause of gingivitis is the accumulation of bacteria at the gum line in the form of a sticky, yellowish film which is called dental plaque. If left undisturbed, bacterial plaque calcifies to form dental calculus (tartar).

The London Day Surgery Centre has a fully equipped operating theatre suite and relaxing recuperative facilities. We also have state of the art dental surgeries for carrying out a variety of oral procedures. The centre has approval from all the major health insurance companies including BUPA and AXA PPP Healthcare.

If it’s good enough for Joan Rivers, it’s good enough for you. In her latest book, Men Are Stupid …And They Like Big Boobs: A Woman’s Guide to Beauty Through Plastic Surgery, the mega-star has admitted the she has had loads of operations, on her eyes, arms, lips, breasts, tummy and nose. Plus, she regularly gets Botox injections as well as a host of other anti-aging treatments to keep the Grim Reaper at bay – or at least allowing him to see her looking damn good before she passes on.

As Rivers – who’s amazingly now 75 years old – knows, the more we age, the more we tend to droop and sag. It’s sad fact of life, as the effects of gravity begin to take their toll on those with even the most elastic of skin. Clever plastic surgeons, however, have ways to revere the effects of aging, and make us look younger than we really are. But which procedures are really right for us?

While every individual is different, most of us follow a similar pattern when it comes to aging – and most of us can benefit from procedures designed for people at a certain age in their lives. Here are the most commonly performed operations for people in a specific age group. Read about them and see if they appeal to you – or if they make you want to run the other way!

The 20s

Most of us still look youthful at this age, and aging doesn’t play an enormous role when it comes to the type of cosmetic procedures offered to people in this age group. Skin care treatments are usually popular, both to get rid of leftover acne and/or scars, and to ward off wrinkles in future. Remember, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure!

THE PROBLEM: Specific problems that plague an individual, regardless of age. While most people in this age group respond well to exercise, genetic problems might still remain, such as a saggy butt, flat cheeks (on the face, that is), flat chest or skinny legs.

THE RECOMMENDATION: The most common procedures performed in the US among people in their 20s were liposuction, boob jobs and rhinoplasty ops (that’s a nose job, dummy). Less invasive procedures such as Botox (yes, even in your 20s!) and dermal fillers to augment the lips are also popular among the twenty-something set. A butt, cheek of calf implant may be desired as well, for those who are active at the gym but still can’t achieve the perfect body – or face – they so desire.

The 30s

Youth is beginning to wane, and wrinkles are accumulating on the face, as well as fat deposits collecting in the chin and other areas. The body is also showing signs of wear and tear, and doing it on your own just doesn’t cut it.

THE PROBLEM: Good skin elasticity means a variety of facial treatments are available that can work to good effect. However, diet and exercise don’t have quite the same effect they did in the past – plus the result of pregnancy may have taken a toll – so body contouring treatments might be warranted. Your metabolism has slowed down, and everything is harder work. Surgery can help.

THE RECOMMENDATION: Loads of skin care treatments can turn back the clock, such as microdermabrasion, Thermage and laser skin tightening. To make it look like you’ve never had a baby – and certainly never breastfed one – why not try a breast uplift and augmentation, as well as a tummy tuck, stretch mark removal surgery and a course of lipo?

The 40s

Things are starting to slide south faster and faster, the skin is losing its elasticity and it takes about five hours to work off one Krispy Kreme donut. Why? Welcome to the 40s!

THE PROBLEM: Loose skin makes the face – and other areas of the body – look saggy and droopy. Excess fat is accumulating faster than you can say “Malibu Beach Diet”, and for those who postponed having kids until now, the post-baby jelly belly is here to stay. Nobody wants to watch every mouthful they eat, so there has to be another way…

THE RECOMMENDATION: Get rid of fine lines and wrinkles, or at least the appearance of them, with non-invasive treatments such as Botox and Thermage. More invasive measures would include a brow lift and eyelid surgery. Some people even have complete face lifts at this age, or at least a thread or mini lift (studies have shown that people in their late 40s who get face lifts are the most happy with the results). Old faves include tummy tucks, boob jobs and lipo, and if your neck is showing signs of looking like a turkey, you might want to have a neck lift – or at least some lipo – in the neck area before it gets a lot worse.

The 50s

Facial surgery is a big thing for women and men of this age, as the first real signs of aging appear on the face. Lack of volume in the face plus gravity can make you droop and look haggard and/or constantly tired. Perk yourself up with a spot o’ surgery!

THE PROBLEM: Saggy face and neck, hollow cheeks, lack of vitality in the face, a youthful visage that has disappeared with age. Even if you splashed out $3,500 on a fab designer outfit, spend a grand on a haircut and eat nothing but lettuce leaves for a month, your face will still give you away.

THE RECOMMENDATION: Anything that can plump up the face and make it look younger is popular among people this age. This can include obvious techniques such as a face lift and fillers, but also can include the less obvious: cheek implants, neck lift, browlift. Non-invasive treatments to look better are also popular, such as laser and pulsed-light therapy. Women who have had surgery for breast cancer etc might also be investigating reconstructive surgery at this age. Saying that, most people who want boob jobs etc will have already had one – or two, or three – by the time they hit the big 5-0.

Beyond…

As Joan Rivers has proven, anyone can look younger – or drastically altered, as if they’d had a myriad number of procedures performed on their body and face – through plastic surgery. Whether you’re 21, 51 or 81, there is a surgery out there to suit you – and a surgeon willing to do it.

If you are considering surgery, however, do your homework first and think long and hard about whether the outcome is really what you want. If you don’t have realistic expectations of what surgery can do for you – give you better breasts, for example, not give you a better life – then the whole plan could hideously backfire.

“I believe in plastic surgery,” Rivers said in an interview not long ago. “Eventually, you will look in the mirror and you will know. You will hit 40 and say, ‘that isn’t quite right’. Anyone out there who thinks they don’t like their nose? Do something about it! You go through life once. Fix your teeth.

“My motto is, ‘Better a new face coming out of an old car than an old face coming out of a new car’. Spend your money on you.”

Is Stretch Mark Surgery Right For You?

Before you decide on stretch mark surgery or any form of treatment, you should first acquaint yourself with the reasons why stretch marks form in the first place. Problems with the elastin and collagen in the skin are the main culprit. Elastin and collagen may be broken as a result of many possible occurrences such as the sudden broadening of the skin, quick weight gain or loss, employment of drugs such as steroids, bodybuilding and hormonal alterations. Realizing the main elements that cause stretch marks will aid you in evaluating your options.

A lot of people want to get rid of their stretch marks fast. This is the reason why they jump into stretch mark surgery. But it might be worth knowing more about what surgery for stretch marks really is. There are basically two types of surgery you can undergo to get rid of stretch marks, and these are the tummy tuck and laser surgery.

When you get a tummy tuck, the surgeon literally removes a portion of the skin on your belly where the stretch marks have developed. This medical technique is clearly for individuals with stretch marks on their belly.

Laser surgery works by focusing a beam of light on the stretch marks. The laser disrupts the scar tissue particles until they dissipate. Once the scar tissues disappear, the redness of the scars is reduced. Laser surgery is deemed effective only on newly formed scars since the beam can only recognized scars that are brown or red. Moreover, laser surgery cannot guarantee flawless results.

Even with its publicized success, surgery for stretch marks could be considerably pricey and not to mention a serious procedure. Don’t forget that cosmetic surgery is no different from any other kinds of surgery. Several individuals often deem cosmetic surgery as less serious compared to other kinds of surgery. Though, this is a misconception. All the risks that come with major surgeries can also take place with cosmetic surgery. Major concerns include infection and fatal complications caused by the wrong administration of anesthesia.

Besides the risks, surgery to get rid of stretch marks is extremely expensive. The charge that comes with stretch mark elimination in this case can reach up to $8,000. In addition, you don’t have the assurance of a perfect outcome. You may have to get more procedures done. More procedures may be called for to correct mistakes, and this increases your expenses.

Let us not forget about the pain and healing process. Sure enough, there are procedures that involve the use of anesthesia, but this will wear out during the healing process. The entire process could take a very long time, and some people are just unable to tolerate the pain or discomfort.

So is stretch mark surgery right for you? Preferably, surgery should be your last option. An ideal thing to do would be to consider other forms of treatments that are less invasive but still efficient. A main advantage of natural stretch mark cures is that they have no side effects. Natural cures are also often less costly. Even though it may take some time before you can see a positive outcome, your skin constantly gains from the natural elements, which assist in reconstructing the skin as well as stop new stretch marks from forming. Search for a cure that has Vitamins A, E and D3, grapefruit seed extract and Aloe Vera.

Laser Surgery to Remove Stretch Marks

The last and the efficient treatment that are under gone by patients when they suffer from stretch marks are through laser surgery. Laser surgery to remove stretch marks in the earlier stage is not the best treatment method. This treatment should the last choice for earlier stage stretch mark holders and it is the first choice for those affected much by stretch marks. It is a bit expensive and time consuming.

Laser surgery to remove stretch marks has two main benefits which is the reason for the success of the treatment. They are

- No pain after and during surgery

- Assured result of removing stretch marks

When you have the above said benefits then this should be the best treatment when compared with all the other treatments. This is not to say that the other treatments are not useful, but to say that this treatment is more efficient. The procedure of the treatment is explained here briefly which will be able for the readers to clearly analyze what is done during the treatment.

Laser is a beam of light that is passed on the stretch mark affected area. This is the case in all kinds of laser treatments. When the beam of laser light falls on the exposed skin the following changes occur.

- Very minute layer of skin is removed according to the severity of the stretch marks in the skin.

- Since the layers are removed the stretch marks are also removed and further mark producing damaged tissues are also removed.

As soon as the treatment is over, the skin starts to heal by itself as it is a natural process in the human body. As a result new skin is formed on the area where the surgery is performed. Since the stretch mark producing cells are removed there is no chance for further development of the marks. Laser surgery to remove stretch marks is a permanent cure and treatment for the ugly marks in the skin surface.

Though laser surgery is boasted to have no pain, there will be a little pain as the layer of the skin is removed. But this is not a serious thing and there will be pain that can even be bared by a small child. Those who say that there will be no pain at all is misleading you to increase the number of patients to their clinic and visitors to their web site.

Laser surgery to remove stretch marks has some side effects. They are very rare to occur in the patients. But some excess beam exposure and patients with low energy level will suffer these side effects. These side effects include the following,

- Scar in the treated area.

- Swelling in the region of surgery which appears with in some days.

- Bruising and blisters in the region.

Laser surgery can very much easily remove the stretch marks that are pink, red or brown in color. They can also effectively remove the scars that are silver in color which are more matured and older.

Stretch marks come along with obesity, pregnancy, and weight gain. But the main thing is that they develop primarily because the skin overstretches. Imagine a rubber band that gets stretched beyond its maximum limit. It ends up loosely, right? The same thing happens to the skin. The scar may appear as reddish, purplish, or silvery whitish in color. The scarring typically takes place in the dermis, the elastic mid layer of the skin that keeps it properly shaped up. And as these marks get embedded onto the skin, you can forget about gaining back its original outline. Thus, removing stretch marks comes as a need.

When you have stretch marks, you can expect your skin to have a different texture. It is also literally implied that your self-confidence can be affected. There is no doubt that people since time immemorial have paid much attention on the maintenance of their beauty. And it is not so much to say that beauty starts with the skin.

Surgery seems to be the fastest and surest way of removing stretch marks. However, the cost of which is just too high that not everyone can afford it. The skin care companies are aware of the needs of those who are badly affected by stretch marks. No one wants to live forever with the ugly marks that give them the impression that they are unattractive in one way or another. Stretch marks removal is their business. A variety of lotions and creams come about as an alternative for surgery. More so, they are cheaper too. Clear enough, surgery is not the only solution to address the issue on these unpleasant skin scarring.

Meanwhile, not all creams and lotions are successful in removing stretch marks. Some people end up complaining that the money that they have spent seems not to pay off. Again, it depends on the product and its ingredients. There are those components which don’t penetrate into the skin to mend any damaged tissue. This instance tells that you should be careful enough as you buy the products for removing stretch marks.

Among the measures that you can apply in removing stretch marks include the following:

Make use of the lotions that bear the essentials such as Emu oil, Castor oil, Jojoba oil, Cocoa butter, Vitamin E oil, Vitamin A oil, Shea butter, and the likes.

The application may be needed for two up to three times in a day.

Massage the removal cream or lotion onto the skin for around 3 up to 5 minutes to allow the proper flow of the blood into the body.

Try the home remedies by using Aloe Vera, Olive oil, Vick’s vapor rub, and almond oil. Or you can trust what other people say about the efficiency of egg powder or egg whites.

Ensure that your skin is properly hydrated. Therefore, you must drink more water.

Eat healthy foods. Your meals must incorporate foods which are rich in vitamins E, C, and A, silica, zinc, protein, and fatty acids.

Both men and women are likely to be distressed with these ugly marks. But take note that there are other painless alternatives other than surgery in removing stretch marks!

Here are many ways to get rid of stretch marks with out surgery. Use oil mixtures like Cocoa butter, rose hip oil, Emu oil, jojoba oil, castor oil, shea butter, vitamin A and Vitamin E rich oils like the cod liver oil. These oils or mixture of these oils can be applied over the affected area at least two to three times daily. Knowing the age of the stretch marks can play a informative role in removing them from the skin. Any old stretch marks are comparatively difficult to remove. The young marks that have been formed in the recent past can be easily removed by simple process.

It is a misnomer that these marks can not be removed from the skin. Most of the marks can be removed easily with the help of crèmes or lotions or by applying any one of the oil above or by applying them as a mixture before and after bath.

Two of the very famous commercial stretch mark removal crème are tri lasting SR and stri peptin. They are effective in removing the marks but the cost of the crème is very high and since the marks can not disappear overnight constant application is required till the marks are completely removed from the skin. They can not be opted as a solution by all. In addition to the cost criteria, since these crèmes are synthetic in nature, they might produce allergic reactions to some one allergic to these ingredients. More, they can not be tried over the pregnant women as they are more susceptible to even minor reactions over the skin. If you plan to use it for the pregnant women, better do a patch test before the application.

For those who are very sensitive toward these marks, they have to understand one point that stretch marks are bound to appear for every one at some point of their life. Fortunately, for many of them they tend to disappear in a due course. Since, they do not cause any kind of physical harm. There is nothing much to worry about. Clearly, it is a cosmetic problem.

For those set of people who can not stand the mere sight of these marks over their body can still opt for numerous other ways that are painless and non invasive in contrary to the surgical method of removing these marks. Why shell a lot of hard earned money in to a surgery, when it is still possible to cure with out it also.

The true fact is that, even after the surgery, be laser or the other type of surgeries, cent percent cure is impossible. The surgery can only help to fade the marks with that of the skin colour. They do not completely remove the marks from your skin.

Prevention is better than cure. Instead of toiling so much for erasing the stretch marks, it is advisable to prevent them before their onset. All the best!

Know What Stretch Mark Surgery is

Stretch mark not only affects the appearance of over all body but can also affect psychologically. Many shy away from exposing their hands and legs because stretch marks have markedly marred their appearance. There are many treatments to cure the stretch marks. Traditionally, home remedy for stretch marks was also being followed. Then came various cosmetic crèmes that gave promises to rid away the stretch marks. Even when those seemed to be not much effective, the surgical method for the removal stretch marks was tried by the doctors.

How effective is surgery in treating stretch marks? One has to really know in depth about the method of surgery before deciding to under go surgery for the stretch mark removal. It is better to consult a medical practitioner or a skin specialist to decide upon the surgery. When we talk about the surgical means to remove the stretch marks, there is a great variety of surgery which is suitable for different individuals. In the tummy tuck method of surgery, the excess skin and fat under the skin would be removed leaving behind a perfect figure for you to wink at. Mainly for person who have reddish brown colour stretch marks over their skin, laser therapy can be effective. However for some cases, it might not completely remove the marks but just lighten the marks only. Sensibly for the laser treatment, the cost per sitting is comparatively costlier. Approximately $1000 is charged per sitting! And you need to have several sittings before a complete cure.

For those cool folks who have conveniently neglected the stretch marks in the beginning, but latter realise that it has to ridden away, they have the cool beam surgery as a rescue. They can dramatically, reduce the prominence of the stretch mark if not completely erase them.

The scientists are still struggling to find out even better ways to get rid of the stretch marks. However the current system is nevertheless ineffective.
